Frequently asked questions

How much does the Ground Hawk weigh?
Answer: The approx. weight of the detector is 3.8-4 lbs(pounds). The detector is designed to feel very comfortable.

What size search coil is used for the Ground Hawk?
Answer: It is a 8-inch concentric search head.

Can I use rechargeable batteries with the detector?
Answer: Yes. However, it is not recommended. Most rechargeable batteries have a very short life span in comparison to regular batteries. Non-rechargeable batteries have a very slow decay rate, which allows the detector to warn you when the total battery power is low. Using most rechargeable batteries, the detector will not give a low battery warning.

Do you sell different coils for the detector?
Answer: No. We have conducted many experiments with different size coils, and the 8-inch head allows the detector to work at its maximum.

What frequency does the detector operate on?
Answer: Approx. 6.8 KHz

Do I need a search head cover for the detector?
Answer: No. A head cover is not needed, as it does increase the weight of the detector. The search head is completely water proof, and it is very durable.
