What is the Iron Reject control?
The iron reject is the iron depth control. Iron trash such as nails (and other larger objects) will be rejected, or nulled out. The iron reject control allows you to adjust the detector to reject iron objects depending on their size, depth and the soil condition. If the detector fails to reject larger iron objects or iron trash that is deeper, you can increase the iron reject control to reject it. Cannon balls usually are very deep, so be careful not to increase the iron reject to much. Usually larger targets such as cannon balls have more of a wide signal, so always dig targets that have wider faint signals. 4 1/2 to 5 is a good setting. If the location is highly mineralized, the setting needs to be lower. If the soil is very good or has low mineral, the setting should be higher.
