What is the Threshold control?

The threshold controls the amount of audio tone given. It is not to be confused with the volume control. The threshold gives you more audio tone, 4 1/2 to 5 is a good setting. It will also help you to hear deeper in the ground, if it is set at a good level. You can turn the threshold control off and still hear targets, this is called silent mode. If you want to run the detector in silent mode, turn the threshold up where you can hear it and slightly turn it back where you can no longer hear the tone. It is your decision to run the detector in silent mode. If you do, you may lose 1-2 inches in depth.
