GroundHawk performed full-service utility location and video pipe inspection service as part of the redevelopment of the long-dormant 74.77-acre Georgia Square Mall located in west Athens, Georgia. The team coordinated with both the client and the site development team to ensure that all necessary information was captured according to the needs of the engineering and site planning teams.
The Athens Ford Dealership located off Atlanta Highway in Athens, Georgia is the leading dealer for drivers in the Athens area. The GroundHawk team located all subsurface utilities within the Athens Ford property along with the full right-of-way of all bordering roadways. The GroundHawk team located all utilities in the field work, coordinated with the client from start to finish, and provided including utility sketches, utility reports, and state-of-the-art client communication.
GroundHawk has performed full utility location services on numerous solar fields all across South Georgia with sites ranging from 50 acres to over 200 acres.
The GroundHawk team located approximately 1,250 acres of Fort Benning’s Lawson Army Airfield in Columbus, Georgia. As the airfield was preparing for an electrical study due to some damaged lights, GroundHawk located all utilities on the airfield while it was active! To ensure their safety, maximize efficiency, and minimize the effect of the field technicians on the airfield itself, GroundHawk remained in constant contact with both the client and air traffic controllers tracking Lawson during the project lifecycle.
The GroundHawk team located the intersection of Sea Island Road and Frederica Road on St. Simons Island. Along Sea Island Road, the team located 1,600 LF of roadway along Sea Island and 1,400 LF of roadway on Frederica along with the intersection between them. As this intersection is one of the busiest in St. Simons, the GroundHawk team arrived at the site at 4:00am to maximize their impact on traffic and vice versa. Two technicians were present during this utility location to ensure safety, coordinate with local traffic, and ensure they were able to work as quickly as possible.
This 42-acre site, located about a mile from the Druid Hills Emory campus, includes the historic Candler Mansion; an archival library facility jointly serving Emory and Georgia Tech; and the former Georgia Mental Health Institute. The GroundHawk team performed two separate projects for Emory in the spring of 2022: a full utility locate for the campus, excluding sewer and storm and a full locate of accessible underground tunnels. Many will recognize the site from popular media such as Netflix’s “Stranger Things” and “Doom Patrol” on HBO Max.
In total, the GroundHawk team has performed full utility location services for seven state facilities, including prisons, medical centers, rehabilitation and recovery centers, and more. During the completion of these seven projects and counting, the GroundHawk team has honed a particularly discreet and nonintrusive approach for providing the highest quality deliverables to clients while also maintaining maximum privacy to those calling the facilities home.
Before the 2022-2023 school year began, the GroundHawk team located all utilities on or connecting to the Oglethorpe County Primary and Elementary Schools in Lexington, Georgia. The team also located the full right-of-way of two different roads bordering the property for a total of 58 acres of utility location.
GroundHawk was contracted to perform 10 projects to locate all utilities throughout the Augusta State Medical Prison for new building and drainage additions. The team actually coordinated with prisoners who were also trained electricians working with the on-site maintenance team to achieve a general idea of where power was located before breaking out their equipment.
