FAQs ABOUT GROUNDHAWK

GroundHawk is unique in that we’ve been able to maintain our dedication to intentional, individualized client communication despite our growth. Many of the industry’s largest firms are, unfortunately, too busy to provide their clients with the customer service we believe ours deserve. When working with GroundHawk, our clients are provided with a project manager dedicated to ensuring that the project is a success while remaining on budget and on schedule. This project manager serves as the client’s single point of contact and is eager to answer any questions that may arise.

We know that our projects are just as individual as our clients themselves; therefore, we price each project according to client needs and project details.

By law, those interested in digging are required to call 811 to have underground public utilities marked. However, the one-call system only locates public utilities including electric, gas, oil, sewer, telephone, and water. This leaves clients at risk of damaging private utilities, which make up the vast majority of underground utilities and subsurface structures. GroundHawk picks up where 811 stops and locates ALL underground utilities and structures, so you can design, dig, and build with confidence.

For GroundHawk, there’s no job too big or too small. From small private utility location jobs to large projects spanning entire counties, GroundHawk is ready to tackle any size project at any time.

GroundHawk uses state-of-the-art technology and equipment to provide high-quality and easy-to-understand deliverables. Specific instruments include ground-penetrating radar (GPR), magnetic pipe and cable locators, robotic crawlers, multi-frequency locators, and more.

GroundHawk provides what we call “SUE Lite,” a unique subsurface utility engineering approach created by GroundHawk leadership. SUE Lite provides our clients with a SUE QL-B product without designating low-voltage electrical, traffic control facilities, or gravity storm drains/sanitary sewer.

The short answer? Yes. The long answer? Also yes.

GroundHawk can obtain depths with limited accuracy by the use of GPR and electromagnetic induction. To fully obtain depths, GroundHawk utilizes a technique calling “potholing,” otherwise known as “daylighting,” to put eyes on the utilities via our vacuum excavation services.

GroundHawk frequently works with civil engineers, land surveyors, municipalities, contractors, facility managers, school districts, universities, prison systems, military bases, utilities including oil and gas, solar, water and wastewater, electrical, and communication, landscapers and other private clients, and many more!

GroundHawk is proud to provide our project managers with an in-depth series of professional development opportunities via internal training programs. Many of our project managers and senior technicians are NULCA (National Utility Locators Contractors Association) certified locators.

GroundHawk is always looking to grow our team of field utility technicians, project managers, and leadership. If you’re interested in becoming a part of the GroundHawk team, please visit our CAREERS PAGE.
